The course aims to a) develop a conceptual framework for thinking about the main structural changes occurring in the labour market and the employment relations, following a comparative perspective, b) identify the main concepts and tools for the labour market analysis, from the new labour market segmentation approach, c) explore a selection of current research topics relevant to the understanding of labour inequalities reproduction within the economic globalization process, with particular attention to the insider-outsider divide, permanent and temporary workers and the interplay between internal and external labour markets, d) derive and discuss the principal social and policy implications, concerning both risks/opportunities and the modification of labour market institutions and the implementation of labour reforms among EU Member States.
Mandatory for students of PhD program in Economic Sociology and Labour Studies.
