Lead instructor: Irene Maria Luisa Piazzoni
The conference is dedicated to the case of some italian cities that, with different times, objectives and modes during the "long twentieth century", have played a recognizable role of political myth, showing itself as a reflection of more general changes in national society: not cities in general sense, but those that have been able to establish themselves as places associated with well-defined political options. Papers will highlight the reasons for the success and decline of these political myths, investigating the tools and languages that facilitated their circulation in the national imagery.
