This short course is aimed to give the basic information to correctly use and interpret the laboratory tests. Particular attention will be given to the development of novel biomarkers, by covering all the main pre-analytical and post-analytical aspects; possible strategies and validation. Some focus will be also on the role of laboratory professionals in the choice and interpretation of laboratory test, interaction with clinicians and patients (Lundberg cycle).
