This is a two-day conference, organised by Centro Apice, in which scholars from different backgrounds (historians, literary scholars, linguists) analyse the role of translations in Milanese publishing from the post-World War II period to the present day, highlighting the dynamics of the affirmation of European and non-European authors, the role of series, their directors and translators who have played a leading cultural role, often working in the shadows, but whose importance is emerging thanks to the publishing archives now available to scholars.
Learning objectives: to present different types of sources (in particular relating to personal and publishing archives), research methodologies in the field of publishing and cultural history and different cases of publishing and translation proposals (also taking into account the case of retranslations) that show the centrality of Milan also in the construction of new classics of foreign literature.
