Application of Peptides and Proteins in Pharmaceutical Sciences

The course will deal with a research topic which is expanding, once the bio-pharmacological applications of peptides and/or proteins and their introduction as innovative drug substances are taken into account. The lessons will give a picture of the research on peptides/proteins from different and/or complementary viewpoints, among them the design and synthesis of peptides of therapeutic relevance, the use of peptides or Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs) in cancer therapy, the protein X-ray christallography, the application of dedicated molecular modeling approaches.substances. Finally, some examples will be discussed on how less conventional interaction modes of biologically active compounds with their targets can impact on the drug discovery and development process.
