Accessory Mineral Petrochronology

The course is aimed at introducing all the participants to the main dating methods (U-Pb and U-series) of accessory minerals (e.g., zircon, apatite, titanite) and to the analytical techniques commonly utilized in geochronology (e.g., TIMS, LA-ICPMS, SIMS). The course is structured in two parts: a theory and a practical section in which the participants will handle geochronology datasets and combine the age information with the geochemical and isotopic data. The lecturer will provide numerous examples of various applications, from the study of volcanic and plutonic rocks to the magmatic-hydrothermal systems.
