The course aims at familiarizing students with the main philosophical debates on the nature of reality and language, with special focus the relationship between theoretical description and ontology (both commonsense and scientific). The students will learn about - and learn to question -- key concepts such as properties, dispositions, natural kinds, supervenience, explanation, reference, and identity.
