Issues of Research Methodology in Humanities and Social Sciences

The course aims to:
· offer an overview about the main social research methods
· present the key methodological problems in conducting an empirical research
· outline a research design and its steps
· critically discuss advantages and disadvantages of each research methods
The course will outline the different ways to conduct an empirical research in humanities and social sciences. General topics: types of research methods, research designs, research questions, sampling strategies, collecting and analyzing data, generalizing findings, writing reports. Specific methods: survey, discursive interview, focus group, ethnography.
