The purpose of the meeting is to initiate an interdisciplinary analysis on the economic, botanical and symbolic relevance of the forest in 18th century Italian society. Much attention will be paid to language changes and to the emergence of institutions that took charge of the regulation and protection of this asset of great importance to society.
