Learning objectives
This course provides knowledge on epidemiology, diagnosis, prevention, control and surveillance of the most important infectious, parasitic and foodborne zoonoses at national and international level from One Health perspective.
Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding
The student will acquire the knowledge of the main infectious, parasitic and foodborne zoonotic diseases presented in the course in order to play the proper role of veterinarian in all veterinary field, particularly for Public health. Understanding the importance of human animal and environmental interface for cross-transmission of infectious or parasitic diseases. Understanding how animal health is of critical importance in all veterinary activities at animal production, companion animal and wildlife level.

Appling knowledge and understanding

The student with the knowledge acquired during the course will be able to apply adequate preventive measures, suspect zoonosis cases, identify the most efficient diagnostic procedures to confirm the diagnosis and suggests appropriate control and surveillance measures, in compliance with current legislation.

Making judgments

At the end of the course the student will be able to identify zoonoses, suggest the most appropriate interventions to control or eradicate it. The student will be able to read and critically analyse documents and information on infectious, parasitic and food-borne zoonoses
Communication
Based on what has been learned from the course, the student will be able to explain what he has learned in a simple and clear way using correct and appropriate scientific terminology.
Lifelong learning skills
The student will have to demonstrate the ability to continue, during his professional life, the study of the topics covered by the course in function of the new epidemiological situations that may arise, thanks to the mastery of the concepts and tools of critical analysis provided by teachings of the various modules.
All the skills acquired will be implemented during the practical activities carried out in the various modules and tested in the final exam
