General objectives
The course Reproduction in the Dog and the Cat is aimed to provide the students basic information about main aspects of canine and feline reproduction, for the knowledge and management of estrous cycles; for the knowledge and management of collection, evaluation and storage of semen; for the knowledge and management of mating and artificial inseminations; for the knowledge and management of pregnancies, parturitions and post-partum.
Knowledge and understanding:
Students will learn basic knowledge and ways for the management of estrous cycle, for the collection, evaluation and storage of semen, for the management of mating and artificial inseminations, for the management of pregnancies, parturitions and post-partum in the canine and feline species.
Applying knowledge and understanding:
Students will apply knowledge and ways for the management of estrous cycle, for the collection, evaluation and storage of semen, for the management of mating and artificial inseminations, for the management of pregnancies, parturitions and post-partum in the canine and feline species.
Autonomy of judgment:
Students will learn how to autonomously manage the estrous cycle, the collection, evaluation and storage of semen, the management of mating and artificial inseminations, the management of pregnancies, parturitions and post-partum in the canine and feline species.
Communication skills:
Students will learn how to communicate, as acquired through lessons and practices, to owners and breeders, orally or in written way, using appropriate scientific, technical language, the ways for the management of estrous cycle, for the collection, evaluation and storage of semen, for the management of mating and artificial inseminations, for the management of pregnancies, parturitions and post-partum in the canine and feline species.

Moreover, the students will be able to communicate what above reported to owners and breeders, orally or in written way, using appropriate scientific, technical language.
