Learning objectives
The course of ornamental arboriculture and urban forestry focuses on two specific issues: it studies the tree in the urban environment and urban green areas when they are managed,designed and maintained.
The main objectives of the course are a depth knowledge of the ornamental tree planted in urban and peri-urban environments, intrinsic and extrinsic problems of planting sites as well as the study of functions, types, problems, use and maintenance of urban green spaces. A further objective is the study of the main ornamental species of trees and shrubs used.

Expected learning outcomes
The course is aimed to provide all the tools necessaryfor the deep analysis of an urban green space, in order to lay out the correct criteria ofrecovering and management of the urban greenspaces.
The student will be able to choose the correct plant species to use
in every ornamental urban and peri-urban reality. He will be deeply
acknowledged about tree biology and physiology, problems of the
planting site, the evaluation and assessment of tree stability.
