Learning objectives
The course explores the use of music and sound in audiovisual media from a historical and theoretical perspective, with particular emphasis on cinema. It explores the historical-cultural contexts, ideological ramifications, production practices, and theoretical implications arising from the combination of music and sound with the moving image. The curriculum includes the development of basic analytical tools and an exploration of the expressive resources that music contributes to cinematic language. Additionally, the course delves into the critical and interpretive possibilities that emerge from a conscious and attentive approach to "listening to" audiovisual media.
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students will have gained a solid historical and theoretical understanding of the main aspects and trends of music and sound in audiovisual media, with a particular focus on the topic explored in the monographic course. They will also be able to analyze and interpret key aspects of the dramaturgy related to the use of music in audiovisual media. Finally, they will become familiar with the theoretical terminology of the field.
