Learning objectives
The aim of the class is to introduce, analyse, and discuss models and theories at the heart of molecular spectroscopy. The following specific topics will be treated: - Vibrational and ro-vibrational spectroscopy (IR, Raman); -Electronic and vibro-electronic spectroscopy (UV/Vis and principal photochemical processes); - Properties related to the response to electrical and magnetic fields (polarizability and nuclear magnetic resonance parameters).
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student: - will acquire the theoretical bases of the main spectroscopic techniques; - will be able to analyze from the microscopic point of view the physical phenomena underlying spectroscopy experiments; - will improve knowledge of quantum mechanics.
