Literature, Arts, Media (Portoguese)
A.Y. 2025/2026
Learning objectives
The course aims at providing a historical and theoretical-methodological introduction to intermedial and transmedia studies, understood as the complex system of connections between different artistic languages that inhabit the contemporary media space. The course privileges the study of the relationships between literature, a medium among media, and the other arts such as photography, cinema and painting in the Portuguese-speaking worlds, in particular by analysing case studies from Portuguese and Brazilian culture.
The programme promotes theoretical and analytical skills, encouraging an interdisciplinary approach capable of bringing together critical lexicons from literary and artistic criticism, publishing history, media studies, etc. Through the study of certain authors and works, we will try to delineate the cultural specificities of the Lusosphere (the linguistic universe of Portuguese speakers spanning Europe, Brazil, Africa and Asia) in the contemporary media system.
