Learning objectives
The course aims to promote in students basic knowledge on:
- human sexuality, with reference to the organic dimension and the emotional-relational dimension in the field of physiology;
- issues related to affectivity, sexuality, reproductive health;
- contraception and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases;
- knowledge on the changes in sexuality during pregnancy;
- maternal and neonatal care programs.
Expected learning outcomes
Specifically, at the end of the course students will be able to:
- develop a critical thinking on issues that connect affectivity and sexuality;
- organize and evaluate maternal and neonatal care programs, that promote well-being psycho-physical of mother-newborn-couple;
- apply a proper model of care during the birth process, accompanying during pregnancy and childbirth;
- communicate with the patient, the family context and all the healthcare workers involved.

Course syllabus
Physical, psychological, and relational changes during pregnancy
Sexuality during pregnancy: myths, fears, and physiological aspects
The role of family planning clinics, midwives, and maternal care services
Prerequisites for admission
No prior knowledge is required.
Teaching methods
Laboratory teaching involves both lectures and hands-on activities (discussions and simulations)
Teaching Resources
The reference material for the course will be provided by the professor in the classroom during the first lesson.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Analysis of clinical cases with final approval/non approval by the lecturer.
