Learning objectives
The course also aims to provide the principles of genetic improvement with particular reference to livestock, both at the population and herd level. Furthermore, the students will be provided with the tools needed for the selection of reproducers according to specific selection objectives.
Expected learning outcomes
The student will have the knowledge of the principle of genetic selection at population level and the tools to apply the selection in farm management. The student will have the critical ability to make the possible choices for the management of animal reproduction in the farms, both for productivity improvement and in the respect of the maintenance of genetic variability. Furthermore, the students will know the basic principles of genomic tools available in management of livestock.
