A.Y. 2025/2026
Learning objectives
The principle learning objective of the final dissertation is to demonstrate a thorough and in-depth knowledge of the research project carried out during the Master's thesis preparation. The thesis consists in collecting scientific data, during which, students will have autonomous and first-hand experience in learning how to apply novel and emerging research technologies, cutting-edge data acquisition systems and analytical methods to address different biological questions that are the focus of the host DBS research laboratories.
Expected learning outcomes
The student will acquire the appropriate tools necessary for the critical evaluation of scientific literature and for accurate data interpretation and analysis in a specific field of research. Competences in scientific writing will be achieved throughout the project and during the writing of the final dissertation. Experience in the oral presentation and discussion of scientific data will be acquired through research group journal clubs, laboratory meetings, and departmental seminars. In the final dissertation the student must first present his/her thesis to a Committee composed by MBC faculties and then defend a scientific discussion to demonstrate a sound competence in the cultural and methodological field of their scientific project.
