Evaluation of Health Policies and Programs

Learning objectives
The objectives of the course are to evaluate public health interventions with an economist's perspective, by relating needs, objectives and spending constraints. In addition, we want to present the economic approach to the evaluation of public policies, with particular attention to the health sector. Finally, we want to understand how the different institutional structures have an impact on health systems, and related public policies and programs, in different countries.
Expected learning outcomes
Students should be excpected to acquire, at the end of the course, the: ·Ability to understand the objectives and tools of public health policies and programs ·Ability to read and understand an economic evaluation of public health policies and programs. ·Ability to identify the necessary data and evaluation methods to be used to evaluate public health policies and programs.
