Learning objectives
The course aims to investigate the methodologies for historiography, relatively to the emergence, in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, of the applied arts, the decorative arts and design. In particular, students will be guided to the analysis of objects producing during different periods from "Arts and Crafts" to Postmodernism, which are inspired both by industrial aesthetics and production.
Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding: to acquire specific knowledge in the field of applied arts, design and their connections with other arts, through direct examination of objects exhibited in the main museums of Milan.
Applying knowledge and understanding: Development of a critical thinking and a method of analysis of the artistic object starting from historical definitions on the form of the artistic product.
