Learning objectives
The main educational goal of the professional activities is based on student's direct experience with the diagnostic
and therapeutic approach to the orthopedic patient. This objective is pursued through student's attendance of the
various hospital orthopaedic activities: clinic, surgical ward, rehabilitation department, emergency room and
operating theatre.
Expected learning outcomes
The training activity aims to provide adequate tools so that the student can participate in a conscious
manner in the activity of the clinician and the orthopedic surgeon in a hospital setting.
The student will therefore be able to understand the steps that lead to a differential diagnosis between the
different clinical frameworks of orthopedic pathologies and to share the criteria that are at the basis of
therapeutic indications. He will also be able to critically evaluate the traumatized patient, with particular
attention to care priorities. He will put in the condition of understanding patient's care and rehabilitation
needs in the post-operative period. Finally the student will have a direct contact with the operating theatre
environment, taking part, in a protected manner, in minor and major orthopedic surgery
