Physiology and Natural Products for Physical Exercise

Learning objectives
The course is aimed at providing fundamental knowledge related to the physiological adaptations induced by physical exercise. The role of physical activity in maintaining health and well-being will be described. Natural products, including supplements and extracts of plant origin, used to improve athletic performance and increase the beneficial effect of exercise on the body will be explained.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to understand the physiological processes linked to physical exercise and the mechanisms underlying the effectiveness of interventions with natural products. Furthermore, the student will know the main natural products and supplements potentially useful in sports.
