Neurology and Psychiatry

Learning objectives
The aim of this course is acquired knowledge of normal and pathological central and peripheral nervous system, recognizing main clinical neurological diseases. In addition, the main psychic functions and psychopathology related will need to be learned, knowing the general guidelines of the prevalent psychotherapies.
Expected learning outcomes
Al termine dell'insegnamento lo studente dovrà:
- Illustrare le principali manovre semeiologiche dell'esame neurologico con particolare riguardo ai nervi cranici e al distretto cranio-cervicale
- Conoscere le categorie delle malattie neurologiche in base alla loro espressione semeiologica e alla loro eziologia;
- Conoscere le malattie neurologiche con maggiore prevalenza nella popolazione generale;
- Saper fornire le indicazioni essenziali delle indagini laboratoristiche e strumentali rivolte alla diagnosi topografica ed eziologica delle lesioni del sistema nervosa
- Illustrare le malattie neurologiche più spesso associate alla patologia del distretto oro-maxillo-facciale
- Conoscere e saper gestire adeguatamente eventi neurologici che si incontrano nella pratica odontostomatologica quotidiana
- saper riconoscere e definire le principali funzioni psichiche ed i fenomeni psicopatologici ad esse inerenti
- conoscere le principali categorie della nosografia psichiatrica, definendone le manifestazioni sindromiche più frequenti
- saper distinguere il disagio psichico conseguenza di patologie organiche dai disturbi psichiatrici veri e propri
- conoscere i diversi tipi di psicoterapia e le loro indicazioni
- conoscere i principi generali di legislazione psichiatrica e del TSO
- conoscere le indicazioni per i principali farmaci psichiatrici
- Saper gestire la relazione tra odontoiatra e paziente psichiatrico

Assessment methods and Criteria
Written exam. For the course of Psychiatry it consists of 31 multiple choice questions, each including 3 answers, 1 of which is correct. 1 point is assigned for each correct answer, 0 points for each wrong or missing answer. To pass the test, a student must provide at least 18 correct answers. The global evaluation of the learning outcomes is the weighted mean of the scores obtained for the two courses based on their credits. The secretary staff will inform students about both the course scores and the final evaluation. Upon students' acceptance of the evaluation, the president of the exam commission will proceed with its electronic registration.
