Learning objectives
The course aims to provide knowledge of:
- biology of microorganisms and their classification
- basic notions of epidemiology
- groups of microorganisms of particular dental interest and related infectious diseases
- methods of prevention of infectious diseases
- bases of the disinfection, sterilization and sanitizing process
- antimicrobial drugs with particular attention to antibiotics and the phenomenon of antibiotic resistance in the clinical field
- infectious risk in the dental field and risk management
- national and regional health organization
Expected learning outcomes
The student will be able to develop knowledge and understanding of the topics covered and will be able to apply the knowledge in the professional activity, in the preventive and clinical field.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The final examination is a written text with questions aimed at understanding the knowledge of the student and his/her capability to interpret information given in the course.
The evaluation will be weighted according to the CFU provided in each module.
The results, in anonymous form, will be published on the Ariel platform.
