Learning objectives
The course of Medical Sciences provides a general framework of the etiological, physiopathological, clinical and care bases of the main acute and chronic diseases of internal, pediatric and dermatological interest related to the dental discipline and the bases of their treatment. It also provides the fundamental notions regarding the setting of a correct diagnosis of the main organ pathologies based on information deriving from laboratory medicine with particular reference to the dental field. Finally, it provides elements of Clinical Psychology both for helping to identify patients with psychological problems and for improving the doctor-patient relationship.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to recognize the symptoms and signs of the main acute and chronic diseases of internal, pediatric and dermatological interest related to the dental discipline and will know the relative therapies. They will also be able to use laboratory diagnostics for a correct diagnosis of the main organ pathologies and will eventually be able to identify psychological problems in patients with oral manifestations setting up a correct doctor-patient relationship.

A basic knowledge of physiology, biochemistry and general pathology are required in order to understand, from an etiopathogenic and diagnostic point of view, some of the most relevant organ pathologies that may have also systemic manifestations.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The examination of the clinical pathology module consists of a multiple-choice written quiz consisting of 30 questions. 1 point is awarded for each correct answer. The exam is considered passed when 18 out of 30 correct answers are achieved. The student does not need any type of support material to take the exam.
