Learning objectives
At the end of their course of studies, after completing the exams prescribed by their study plan, EFE students, with the assistance and under the guidance of an academic tutor, are required to formulate an interesting research question, motivating its relevance and its connections with their master studies. Then, after critically reviewing the extant literature on the selected topic and assessing its relevance for the development of their research project, they are required to address satisfactorily the chosen question by employing analytical tools of both a theoretical and an empirical character. The process will result in writing a thesis, normally providing some original results. The degree candidates are ultimately required to defend their dissertation in front of a final graduation committee.
Expected learning outcomes
Students will be trained to engage independently in all the stages of a research project, formulating a research question, reviewing the extant literature, elaborating theoretical and/or empirical analyses, writing a clear piece of research, and publicly presenting their results in front of an audience during the thesis final defence.
