The Challenges of Digital Transformation: Perspectives and Tools
A.Y. 2024/2025
Learning objectives
Digital transformation is reshaping people's lives, production systems, the organisation and governance of economic activities, and the tools used by each and every one of us to work and interact with the outside world. The Workshop premises that the opportunities inherent in information and communication technologies must first and foremost be known and understood. There is no need to be an expert in advanced technologies in order to make conscious organisational choices fit for purpose and context. Rather, it is necessary to have models of reference and to ask the right questions. Is it true that technology can aid sustainability? Can the use of artificial intelligence increase the efficacy and appeal of public services? What holds Italy back from becoming a country leader in digital transformation? Through a mix of lectures, presentations and the discussion of exemplary cases, the Workshop will enable the student to acquire the conceptual knowledge and tools needed to tease out the organisational implications of digital transformation processes in different contexts.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the Workshop, the student is expected to be able to:
- understand the relevance and significance of digital transformation in a variety of settings;
- frame the transformation phenomena beyond the purely techno-centric approach;
- illustrate the main organisational issues and managerial challenges inherent in the processes of digital transformation.
