Learning objectives
The course meets the learning objectives of the degree programme and of the International Business curriculum by giving students a grounding in business economics, which is necessary for working in professional roles in private and public enterprises and in foreign and regulated markets, whether at a regional or international level.
The course builds on the economics-related competencies acquired by students in their previous courses, introducing them to the main concepts and processes concerning the nature and workings of companies (in particular of enterprises). Teaching focuses on institutional and corporate governance models, operational and strategic decision-making (types of business decisions) and accounting concerns, and students will also be introduced to the structure, principles and content of companies' financial statements.

Expected learning outcomes
Upon completing the course, students will know and understand the basic concepts and tools of business economics and will demonstrate an aptitude for reading decisions relating to corporate governance and business strategy, as well as companies' financial statements. They will also know how to correctly use the standard terminology in the subject.
By taking part in classroom activities, students will develop the capacity to interpret texts critically and independently and will learn how to read and correctly evaluate developments in the business world around them in economic terms.
