Toxicology
A.Y. 2022/2023
Learning objectives
- Characterize the manifestation and mechanisms of toxicity
- Provide scientific basis for experimental toxicology and criteria for evaluating and extrapolating toxicity data to humans
- Provide adequate toxicological knowledge and valid bases for defining the criteria for protecting human health from the risks deriving from the direct (drugs, food additives, etc.) or indirect exposure (environmental pollutants, industrial solvents, etc.) of substances (chemical and biological).
- Provide scientific basis for experimental toxicology and criteria for evaluating and extrapolating toxicity data to humans

Assessment methods and Criteria
Aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge on the principles of toxicology through the characterization of the main mechanisms of toxicity at both cellular and organ level and through the mechanisms of differente classes of chemicals. Acquisition of these competences will be independently evaluated by two different professors through an oral examination on any topic of the program. The final score, out of thirty, will be the average of the grade awarded by each professor.
