Learning objectives
The course proposes a critical reflection on how the strategic use of Big Data shapes and informs project management and the overall business decision-making.
The course aims to provide students with conceptual grounds and frameworks for managing innovative projects by thinking analytically about the use of Big Data techniques.
Course learning objectives are the following:
Explain the challenges of managing projects by leveraging big data
Understand how big data analytics might improve project work
Discuss how structured/unstructured data affect project design, development and organization
Identify different theoretical approaches, methods and tools to project management and explain their assumptions
Assess the potential of different big data sources for the development of new business models

Expected learning outcomes
By the end of this course, students will acquire knowledge on project management fundamentals and the various project management techniques and principles. They will be able to critical appraise the opportunities and main challenges offered by Big Data and examine how the strategic use of Big Data might support decision making within businesses. The knowledge acquired will allow students to be able to explain and discuss the managerial complexity of a project and what can be gained if big data and analytics are applied to project management decisions.
