Learning objectives
The Laboratory "Sustainability and Sustainable Development" is intended for students of this University, regardless of faculty of belonging. It is strictly multi- and inter-disciplinary and pivoted on case studies of incidence and global scope. It has a contextual incidence as well, in that the multi and inter-disciplinary teaching aims at enabling the student to individuate the competences in her/his same institution in terms of sustainability management, in order to better use the skills it is offering in order to better accomplish and disseminate sustainable behaviors.
Expected learning outcomes
Via an ascertained attendance at the 75% of the lessons required for the selected credits, and with a final thesis proportionate in its length to the number of credits chosen, is expected to demonstrate the students' comprehension of the essential characteristics of sustainability and know how to apply means and measures of sustainability or evaluate their impact to a case study, even imagining strategies to be applied in the field of study they have undertaken

This workshop will always be run online (Ms Teams platform), even in a regime free from pandemic emergencies at the advantage of our diffused campus.
Course syllabus
The laboratory, sponsored by SHuS and By Campus sostenibile-UniMi, is intended for Italian-speaking students without distinction of faculty affiliation or BA and MA courses. It is strictly multi- and inter-disciplinary and based on case studies of global impact and scope, but also contextual, that is, putting the student in a position to understand the functioning of the same institution he/she is lives in, and what are the skills it offers in terms of sustainability.
The path has been studied according to an upside-down pyramidal structure: from the environment to the social context, to reach the person and his choices. The goal is to involve students in a participatory way in reflecting, elaborating and reproducing, with active commitment, sustainable behaviours and choices, both over the years of study and in their daily lives and in their life choices and work commitment. The course consists of a session common to all [Brainstorming session] of 8 h and a series of sessions organized in 5 Themes among which a program has been selected for a 3 CfU basic course. Some teachings are repeatable, others are fixed every year, in order to meet the widest range of expectations, but also the evolution of the concept of sustainability in a path that will develop at least until 2030. Prerequisites for admission
Students enrolled on the second and third of the three-year Degree Courses (max. 100 students accepted) and all students of the Master's Degrees (max. 50 students accepted) can enrol on the Lab. Registration procedures are described on the Ariel platform: https://labsossvil.ariel.ctu.unimi.it/.
Teaching methods
The synchronous lessons will be broadcast online on the Ms-teams platform, every Friday from 3 March to 26 May 2023 (excluding holidays), from 14:00 to 17:45. The lessons in detail are described on the program and on the Ariel platform on the page: https://labsossvil.ariel.ctu.unimi.it/. On the same page will be uploaded pdf of the slides, multimedia elements and short, essential bibliographies by subject.
Teaching Resources
Short bibliographies for each subject will be published on the Lab website https://labsossvil.ariel.ctu.unimi.it/ ; the selected tutor of the thesis, chosen among the Lab professors, will give a specific bibliography about the thesis topic.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The evaluation for approval will be calculated on the verification of the presence at 75% of the lessons and a THESIS of mx. 10 pages with a case study chosen in agreement with one of the teachers (mx. 10 theses per teacher).
AAA. Plagiarism (i.e. copying parts of other authors' texts without quoting them) will be excluded from evaluation.
