Learning objectives
The course is addressed:
- to students of the three-year degree course in Sciences of Cultural Property (9 CFU).
- to students of the master's degree in History and Criticism of Art (6 CFU)
- to all students of the master's degree in Music, Theatre and Film (6 CFU).
The course aims to introduce the students of these degree courses to the study of Ancient Greek literature in its historical development, presenting its communication modes, through the critical analysis of the texts, with a particular focus on the text-image relationship.

Expected learning outcomes
Students are expected to have an adequate knowledge of Ancient Greek literature in its historical development, its main exponents and its critical points.
Students are requested to be able to place each text or author in the proper historical context, They should also show an adequate ability to read critically and contextualize the proposed texts.

Women's Voices in Homeric Epics
Unit A (20 hours, 3 cfu): Introduction to Greek Literature: Historical Development and Forms of Literary Communication
Unit B (20 hours, 3 cfu): Women's Voices in Homer
Unit C (20 hours, 3 cfu): Echoes of Homeric Women's Voices in Later Greek Literature

Prerequisites for admission
Knowledge of Ancient Greek is NOT a requirement.
Teaching methods
The course is based on traditional lectures, during which active involvement of the students will be favoured. The Ariel virtual environment will play a key role in sharing updates, information and teaching materials.

2. A selection of textual and iconographic materials available on Ariel;
3. Outlines of Greek literary history (archaic, classical, Hellenistic and imperial ages) to be studied on a handbook chosed by the student. The handbook's selection criteria will be explained during the course. As general guidance, one of the following books is recommended:
a) A. Porro - W. Lapini, "Letteratura Greca", Bologna, Il Mulino 2017;
b) D. Del Corno, "Letteratura Greca. Dall'età arcaica alla letteratura dell'età imperiale", Milano, Principato 1995.
The minimum requirements for this part of the programme will be made available on Ariel.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Knowledge of Greek literature and civilisation, as well as the content of the whole course, will be verified orally. The possibility of a non-mandatory intermediate written test will be considered (in this case the relevant information will be made available on Ariel).
