Learning objectives
The bioethics course aims to provide an introduction to bioethics, with particular attention to the main questions related to the ethics of the scientific and clinical research, especially in the pharmaceutical and the biotechnological fields and of the public ethics with the intent to promote the debate about the risks and goals associated to the applications of present chemical and biotechnological research. In addition, the important role of the work by graduated in CTF in the modern society will be outlined.
Expected learning outcomes
The bioethics course will provide the basic knowledge, the field of application, and the main problems related to clinical and research ethics. The students will learn how to critically judge and comment of bioethical issues. At the end of the course the student will be able to understand the debate on bioethics applied to the biotechnology sector.

Course syllabus
The bioethics course aims to provide an overview of the principles and major regulatory documents in the field of research ethics, as well as to explore the main ethical, legal, and social issues posed by the most recent developments in biotechnology and pharmacology. Topics covered in the course include the ethical and social implications of genome editing, precision medicine, biobanking, Big Health Data. In addition to actively participate in lectures, students are asked to conduct independent research on a topic that has specifically elicited their interest.
