Learning objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce the basic principles and mechanisms of organizational design as well as the organizational changes that the digital transformation implies. Therefore, it will be discussed the main theories and tools aimed at the analysis and design of organizational structures; the main strategies that can facilitate the introduction of technological change in organizational contexts; the social dynamics in organizational contexts affected by the digital transformation
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- describe the main phases and the actors of organizational design
- explain the differences between different organizational structures and their specific strengths and weaknesses
- apply knowledge to analyse and map organizational processes
- apply knowledge to design organizational structures
- discuss types and phases of the organizational change
- discuss the impacts of digital transformation on organizational design and new ways of working
- critically evaluate the effects of technology on organizational design in the manufacturing and services sector

Assessment methods and Criteria
The achievement of the expected learning outcomes will be assessed through a written test based on 10 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and 2 open-ended questions. As regards the MCQs, there will be only one correct answer and one point will be awarded for each correct answer (zero points for each wrong or missing answer). For each open-ended questions, the student will get a grade from 0 to 10. The final grade of the test (sum of the grade in the MCQs test + grade of the open questions) will go from 0 to 30 with honors.
