Course syllabus
The first part of the course deals with the psychosocial causes of psychological distress in today's society, highlighting what are the protective factors that we have as a species. We will underline the healing effects of places and nature and how this intersects with the theme of the environmental future of the planet and with what the coronavirus pandemic has taught us. A monographic part will then be developed that will deal with the theme of dehumanization, a psychological process that leads to denying the humanity of the "other" and which therefore opens the way to abuses and violence. The third module (for the 9-credit exam) deals with the topic of environmental psychology, a discipline that studies the relationships of individuals with external environments, natural or built, and which proposes specific theories for the understanding of perception and emotional ties and identity with the environment.
