Learning objectives
- Acquire the ability to understand the meaning of the programming and control systems of results in the operating processes of healthcare companies both in the public and private / private accredited fields
- Acquire the ability to understand the significance of the programming and control systems and tools with respect to the institutional and managerial purposes of the healthcare company both in the public and private / private accredited fields
- Understanding the relationships between programming and control systems and the concepts of effectiveness, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the healthcare company both in the public and private / private accredited fields
- Acquire criteria through which to read the organizational structures of accredited public, private / private health companies and the policies adopted by accredited public and private / private health companies in terms of human resources.
Expected learning outcomes
- Use the skills of health economics and business organization necessary for the organization of health services and for the management of available human and technological resources, assessing the cost / benefit ratio
- Apply and evaluate the impact of different theoretical models in operations of the organization and management of health services
- Plan the optimization of all resources (human, technological, informational, financial) available to the medical facilities of low, medium and high complexity
- Apply the main methods and tools of iconic representation of organizations to represent a service delivery system in the health and / or social health sector
- Communicate clearly on organizational issues and healthcare with its collaborators and users
- Critically analyze the ethical and deontological aspects of the health professions, also with a view to multi-professional integration
- Plan the activities of the Prevention Services and verify their efficiency and effectiveness

- Strategic planning and strategic management of the healthcare company
- The strategy-structure paradigm and organizational development processes
- The typical complexity of healthcare companies, professionalism, and related specific dynamics of organizational behavior
- Evolutionary trends and new paradigms in the organization of healthcare companies
- Strategic change, the cycle of leadership and change management in healthcare
- Organizations as complex systems, open but operationally closed
- The iconic representation of the organization. General aspects
- Theoretical basic scheme of an organization. Comparison between the most used basic theoretical schemes (mainstream models) and consideration of the practical implications of these models. Construction in the classroom of a theoretical organization model more responsive to reality, according to a logic of sustainability
- The organizational structure of an organization: organization charts and function charts
- The functioning of an organization and internal processes: organigraph and representations of internal functions and processes
- Service mapping: how to represent and redesign the service delivery system. Examples of analysis and redesign of the service delivery systems in health and social and health care
- The representation of organizational innovations in healthcare and socio-healthcare: the modeled steps of each phase or turn. Examples referring to the SSR of Lombardy: transformation of the functions assigned to basic medicine with the new policy of taking charge of chronic patients; transformation of the accreditation processes of public and private providers (institutional regulation functions of access in the quasi-market in Lombardy).
- Organization of healthcare companies / general criteria for the planning and organization of controls in healthcare companies; identification of the indicators that describe the context and the result.

Teaching methods
The courses will include frontal lessons of theoretical framework which will alternate with discussion of case studies and exercises guided by the teachers.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam will be organized by different modules corresponding to the course teachings, organized in a written test consisting of multiple choice questions with the addition of some open questions, written exercises, and an integrative oral test, agreed with the teacher.
