Learning objectives
The Criminal Law Clinic offers the opportunity to experience a 'learning by doing' approach.
In facts, students will work on real cases, meeting people who need legal support and offering legal assistance under the supervision of the teacher and the attorneys working with the Clinic.
The course helps students to gain skills and abilities that will be useful in their future professions. In particular, students will learn to do legal researches, to identify the relevant problems and find the appropriate solution and to write legal acts. The Clinic makes the students aware of the social function of the law, developing their sensitivity concerning social justice problems.

Prerequisites for admission
As prescribed in "Manifesto degli Studi del Corso di Laurea in Laurea magistrale a ciclo unico in Giurisprudenza (CLASSE LMG/01). a.a. 2019-2020" to take the exam of Clinica legale di giustizia penale, the student must have already passed the following exams: Diritto costituzionale, Istituzioni di diritto privato, Diritto penale.
Furthernore, the student must have passed the exam of Procedura penale.
Only students enrolled in 4th and 5th year are admitted.

Teaching methods

The teacher will choose the cases and the activities of the Clinic, on the bases of the training value and social interest. Students will work in small groups.
The Clinic provides pro-bono services in particular for 'vulnerable people' (migrants, prisoners, people with mental illnesses or addiction ).

Teaching Resources
Considering the specific features of the course there is not a text-book, but specific material will be used for dealing with the assigned cases.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Students evaluation (on a 0-30 scale) will be at the end of the course on the bases of participation in the activities, accomplishment of tasks assigned, final interview about the legal issues raised during the course.
