The ninth edition of the Summer School on Organized Crime of the Department of International, Legal, Historical and Political Studies of the University of Milan provides with a valuable opportunity for update and discussion on a theme touching on gender inequality, civilization, educational processes, family law and cultural anthropology.
Where
The course will be held in room 5 of the Faculty of Political, Economic and Social Sciences of the University of Milan, Via Conservatorio, 7. Lecturers will be nationally and internationally renowned university professors and researchers, judges and prominent representatives of political and educational institutions, artists, journalists and members of civil and anti-mafia associations.
Planned Activities
How is the relationship between women and the Mafia evolving? According to news stories, scientific research and testimonies, while it is true that some mafia organizations now provide career opportunities for women, the wall of silence and female subjection is crumbling. From school to theatre, from research to associations, anti-mafia initiatives in Italy saw a growing number of female activists, who are becoming a majority in these movements. The Summer School on Organized Crime of the Department of International, Legal, Historical and Political Studies of the University of Milan provides with a valuable opportunity for update and discussion on a theme touching on gender inequality, civilization, educational processes, family law and cultural anthropology.
For five days, sociologists, magistrates, female ex-prisoners, journalists, actors, directors, churchmen and politicians will draw upon social science and art, information and justice, faith and real-life testimonies to shed light on a phenomenon that can "disorient" the Mafia, and destroy its age-old certainties. A chance to explore and fully understand what is going on, so as not to miss a great opportunity for change. Director: Nando Dalla Chiesa.
